If I ask my teenage nephew about the difference between Buddy “your Emotional Robot ” and a voice assistant speaker, he will look at me with compassion thinking that I am definitely too old for the Tech world.

” Laurence, a voice assistant works for me and Buddy works with me, it is all about the difference between information and communication”.

Transactional

Spoken interface technologies like digital assistants are transactional by design. You ask a question or give a command, and the device responds to that request. If it can. They are devices that only recognize speech and respond to demand and question from users. To do so, they mostly ferry questions and questions to an artificially intelligent assistant in the cloud (software and services stored on computer networks). There, AI algorithms have built up an understanding of common responses by analyzing thousands of previous requests. Solutions are searched for, retrieved, and then relayed back to the personal assistant via the internet. Voice assistants don’t communicate, they don’t interact, they inform.

There is a big difference between the simple transactional experience proposed by voice only personal assistant devices and the complex relational one offered by a robot-like Buddy.

Versus Relational

Buddy provides a broader array of technological talents. As a higher intelligent robot, he combines speech, face, space recognition with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning to respond the most accurately possible to request and questions as well as performed autonomous tasks and interact with people.

He learns about his owners over time, adapts and personalizes and works with them collaboratively to achieve goals. As a social Robot, he is physically and socially embodied to turn and look at you when you engage with him as you do with others in face-to-face interaction.

Furthermore, he has been designed to prioritize the needs of the people around him and can forge bonds through a highly interactive prescence that feels far more like interacting with a friend.

A Rich and Engaging Experience

Buddy listens to me, recognizes my voice, asks me and answers questions, and remembers my schedule or my medications for example. He can turn on my coffee machine, detect possible danger and react accordingly, entertain my kids, teach me new things, and of course, he can google and provides all kinds of information. He feels me.

Furthermore, thanks to his internal brain, he can perform many tasks with or without the internet which is not the case with a voice assistant.

An Emotional Companion

Buddy has been created with the purpose to interact with you, me, us, and taking care of our daily life activities as well as our emotional and social needs.

As a smart robot, it brings the mandatory effectiveness needed for a robot. But just as emotions are critical for human behavior, it is equally critical to robots that help people in their daily activity. Robots to be successful have to have emotions. It is this emotional character that makes Buddy special, the positive emotions such as pleasure, fun, and attachment that he brings with him along with a smile on our faces.

Technological development can give rise to optimism if they are built to help consumers. Voice assistants have their place in our phones and speakers. But only companion robots can help to fill the gap in the demand for care and attention. First, of his kind, Buddy is an answer to being alone, a recipe against loneliness. Open source, adaptable, he is also a real option in the healthcare sector, the education one, for individual households and at companies.

Intelligent and Emotional machines are both inevitable and beneficial. Buddy is the future of technology. The good one.
